Levante UD forward Emmanuel Boateng says his call up to the national team, the Black Stars, is not for him to come replace Captain Asamoah Gyan.
The 21 year old earned his first call up to the national team after having an amazing season in Spain with Levante, where he scored against two of Spain's top sides- Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The former Moreirense forward scored a sensational hat-trick against Barcelona to end a run of 44 games unbeaten streak in the La Liga by the Spanish champions.
His impressive display earned his a place in the national team with many saying he is in to replace injury prone Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan. However, the young forward has dispelled such statements.
"Unlike what people say, I don't think this is like playing to see who replaces Gyan," the young forward continued. "He is still in active business and a striker many of us really look up to.
"I think it benefits the young players coming in that he is still around the national team," Boateng said.
"Then there is Jordan Ayew, who has had a really good season at club level, and the likes of Raphael Dwamena and Richard Boakye Yiadom all around
"I understand I just wont walk in[to the first team], but there is so much to learn from these players and so much that we can do together as a team, which I want to focus on."
The Black Stars will face Japan on Wednesday in an International friendly in Tokyo on Wednesday.
