Sports Director of Hammarby Jesper Jansson has disclosed reasons behind the exclusion of Ghanaian midfielder Gershon Koffie from their squad for the Svenska Cup against Vasalund over the weekend.
The 25-year-old returned to the Swedish side in December following the expiration of his loan spell at American outfit New England Revolution.
The former Inter Allies enforcer has taken part in every training session since returning to the club and was even expected to feature in their first competitive game of the season when they came up against lower-tier side Vasalund in the Swedish Cup last Sunday.
However, the Ghanaian was bizarrely excluded from the match day squad at the last minute; with the club's sporting director claiming that the Major League Soccer side did not confirmed the end of his loan stint, hence was not registered to take part in the game.
"This should be the standard between clubs and they have not managed their part of the administrative despite pressure. It's really not okay and we're really annoyed," says sports director Jesper Jansson to the club's website.
"It's really not alright," he added.
But according to the club, Koffie will be registered before their next game against Gais on Sunday.
Koffie is expected to be revived on his second spell after struggling initially when he joined Hammarby IF.
He made 23 appearances for the New England Revolution last term.
