Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has called time on his international career insisting he is no longer interested in playing for the Black Stars.
The 34-year-old, who is currently without a club, is working with his agent to help him seal a deal when the transfer window opens in January in Europe after a short stint in the United States.
While eyeing a return to club football, the former youth international midfield star wants to spend the rest of his time helping young players reach their full potential.
Boateng, who played for Ghana at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, says he has to give the chance to young player to show their mettle with the Black Stars.
“Now the game has become very fast, it is for very young players and we have plenty of them in the national team now. I have had my time and it was the best time of my career," Boateng said.
"But the time has come for us to give a chance to other people so for me I have no desire to play for the Black Stars again.”
Boateng was a key youth player for Ghana and helped the country's U20 side to win the silver medal at the U20 World Cup in 2001 along with Michael Essien, John Paintsil, John Mensah, Sulley Muntari and Razak Pimpong.
Boateng won 47 caps for Ghana played for several top teams in Europe, including Panathinaikos in Greece, Beitar Jerusalem in Israel, Swedish giants AIK Stockholm, Getafe in Spain, and FC Koln in Germany.
