On-loan striker Ropapa Mensah scored the only goal which gave ten-man Harrisburg City Islanders a 1-0 win over Ottawa Fury FC on Wednesday.
Mensah lifted his team to a victory with a 46th-minute goal when he chipped a shot over the right shoulder of the Fury goalie.
It was his sixth goal in 18 appearances for the USL side.
Harrisburg’s defence held on in the end and Sean Lewis made key saves in the net to give Harrisburg a much-needed three points to keep pace in the standings.
Fury FC’s first good chance to equalize came in the 67th minute as Onua Obasi volleyed just wide of the left post, while Nick DePuy forced a save by City Islanders goalkeeper Sean Lewis five minutes later with a turning shot.
Ottawa’s Ryan Williams also fired on goal from a free kick with 13 minutes to go, while Lewis gathered in a low shot by Azake Luboyera from the top of the penalty area.
Fury FC was unable to solve Harrisburg’s defense, however, as the City Islanders moved above Ottawa in the Eastern Conference standings.
