Persib Bandung midfielder Michael Essien has been eclipsed as the most expensive purchase in the Indonesia Super League following arrival of Stefano Lilipaly at Bali United in the transfer mid-market.
Bali United, nickname Tridatu Serdadu officially recruited Dutch-born Indonesian midfielder Stefano Lilipaly from Dutch Erste side SC Telstar last week in a record deal that was much more than Persib Bandung paid for the veteran Ghanaian enforcer.
"Congratulations to Stefano, let's fight together," the club wrote on their official twitter handle.
It is not known how much the price that Bali United paid to bring Lilipaly.
However, other reports suggest that Bali paid about Rp 14 billion for Lilipaly.
If the nominal is to go, automatically Stefano will predicate as the most expensive player in League 1 compared to the Rp 9 billion Persib Bandung paid to Michael Essien.
During his career in the Dutch second division with Cambuur, he scored a total of 22 goals and 17 assists from 99 matches from attacking midfield position.
