Christian Atsu’s manager at Newcastle United, Rafael Benitez is getting increasingly frustrated with the ongoing summer transfer.
The newly promoted club is looking to strengthen in a number of positions ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Despite club owner Mike Ashley’s pledge of splashing cash to make the club strong in the upcoming Premier League, Benitez has purchased only two players.
Winger Christian Atsu joined on a permanent deal from Premier League champions Chelsea for £6m after a successful loan spell last season while defender Florian Lejeune arrived from Spanish side Eibar for a reported fee of £8.7million.
“We know where we are,” said United’s manager.
“It’s not ideal, because everybody wants to see a lot of players signed already.”
“But we have to keep working and trying to find the players we want. Hopefully, we can do it.”
“It’s not easy for a lot of teams, because the market is a bit crazy,” said Benitez.
“We have to try to do our best. “Obviously, the top sides have a lot of money. The other teams are spending some money, but we will see if we can do our job.”
