Furious Danbort FC have sensationally quit Ghana's Division One League after being angered by refereeing decisions.
The club has announced that they will not be finishing this year's campaign after losing 2-1 at home to Dreams FC over the weekend.
The Nungua-based club had unsuccessfully appealed the appointment of referee Juliet Appiah and believed her designation was to aid the league leaders.
The game was marred by several controversies after Danbort goalkeeper Prosper Gbeku was shown the red card for pummeling the female referee.
Club officials held a crisis meeting following the match and revealed that they have opted to quit the league in protest.
The owner and bankroller of the club Daniel Bortey Quaye has confirmed his outfit's withdrawal from the league.
"It's not worth it to be wasting time, energy and resources in Ghana football, he told Accra-base Happy FM
"We protested against the choice of the referee but the appointment committee turned a deaf ear.
"She came here with the result in her pocket and I cannot continue again.
"I have asked the players to find their way and possibly look for new clubs. As far as I am concerned I'm out of football."
Danbort are placed 7th on the table with 25 points and appears out of touch to catch leaders Dreams FC, who are on 51 points.
