Former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey has called on the handlers of the Black Starlets to take preparations serious ahead of the upcoming U-17 World Cup in India.
The two-time U-17 World Champions have been pitted in Group A alongside host country India, USA and Colombia for the 17th edition of the biennial tournament.
Many pundits hold that the Black Starlets have greater chance of advancing to the next stage of the competition after draw was held.
Nevertheless, Lamptey who was voted as the best player of tournament when Ghana won the cup in 1991, has cautioned that only adequate preparations can make the team's work load light in the competition.
"It's not a bad group though, it's negotiable and I believe if we prepare adequately we can sail through," Lamptey told Happy FM.
"And I think the game against host India will not come cheap as people perceive but through hard work and good preparation we can beat them."
"However, the games against Colombia and USA will be a bit tricky because these two countries have been doing well at this level for some time now."
"From what I witnessed at the just ended Africa Cup, if we can add a little bit effort to it, I believe we'll have a chance of making it out of the group."
"But if I'm being pushed to wall to pick a game that will be tough for us, I'll go for the US one because they have invested so much in the football and gone are the days where we easily trample upon them, things have changed," the former Aston Villa attacker deduced.
The Black Starlets will kick-start their their tournament against South America champions Colombia on October 6th.
