AshantiGold continued their abysmal performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League as they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Medeama at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The Miners have endured a difficult run in the premier league following their five-match winless run in the Ghana Premier League, including one in the MTN FA Cup which they lost 3-1 in the penalty shootout to second-tier side Asokwa Deportivo over the weekend.
Akwesi Donsu opened up AshantiGold with a wonderful 12th minute pass, sending Eric Kwakwa darting into space to square and leave Bernard Ofori with a simple finish to give Medeama the advantage.
However, the home side did not feel let down by the visitors’ opener as they pressed for the leveler and got their reward for their effort in the 23rd minute through Prince Owusu, which happened to be the last real action of the first half before centre referee Daniel Laryea blew his whistle for the end of the stanza.
The second half failed to produce any goal from either side as the encounter ended in a draw.
AshantiGold remain deep rooted at the bottom of the standings while Medeama climb to 10th position.
