Kevin-Okyere Weidlich has agreed to extend his contract with German side Energie Cottbus until June 2018.
The contract of the 27-year-old was billed to end in the summer but the midfielder has agreed fresh terms with the German side.
The German-born Ghanaian has to extend by a further year if the side rise to third at the end of the season.
Energie Cottbus manager Dieter Wollitz has been left pleased with the situation.
"Kevin Weidlich has developed into an absolute performer of our team this season and will be an important building block of the team in the coming season," he said

"Kevin showed himself willing in the discussions from the beginning and convinced he will will part of our project in the future. We are happy with his contract extension."
The attacking midfielder has netted six goals so far this season.
