Hearts of Oak midfielder Malik Akowuah has taken a swipe at WAFA, claiming that they do not have the clout to maintain their top position on the Ghana Premier League table following their impressive start to the campaign.
The Sogakofe-based side have been surprise contenders for the league title this season after picking 23 from 11 matches, which has propelled them to the summit of the standings.
However, the 27-year-old deep lying midfielder believes that despite the Academy boys magnificent league start, they cannot go all the way to claim the title.
''What can WAFA do in the league? They are just taking care of the league summit for Hearts of Oak as the top-spot is not meant for them in the ongoing league season,'' Akowuah told Kumasi-based Fox FM
''I can also state that not even Asante Kotoko or Aduana Stars can serve as a stumbling block to us as we look forward to clinching the league title. Hearts of Oak will surely annex the league trophy,'' he declared.
He continued: ''We have four matches to end the first round and we cannot afford to let a point slip through our hands. We shall definitely leave no stone unturned against our opponents as we will like to amass all the maximum points at stake,''
''We want to add the remaining points to what we have accumulated so far and so come what may; the remaining four games will be won by us in order to boost our chances in lifting the league trophy,'' added the 27-year-old.
