Former Ghana great Mohammed Ahmed Polo has asserted that Kwesi Appiah’s success with the Black Stars will depend on a formidable CHAN team.
The ex-Al Khartoum coach was handed the Black Stars job on a two-year deal earlier this month as a replacement for Israeli coach Avram Grant who departed the position after the expiration of his contract with the Ghana FA.
The 56-year old coach has been mandated to steer the affairs of the locally-based Black Stars team aside the main team.
Many pundits have opined that, the time has come for the locally based players to be given opportunity in the main team as most of invited European based players are bench warmers in their various clubs.
And according to the outspoken Ahmed Polo, it will be prudent for the newly appointed coach to build a formidable CHAN team, which will serve a solid foundation for the main side.
Speaking to Starr FM, “If you look all around these are the players we have but unfortunately, majority of them are not getting regular playing time.”
“It very important for him to start working on the CHAN team now so that he can add some value to the main team especially those who are willing to compete with the foreign players.”
