Troubled Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold have targeted former Hearts of Oak manager Kenichi Yatsuhashi as a replacement for Bashir Hayford.
Hayford, who won the Premier League title for AshGold after failing to win it in 19 years, tendered in his resignation late last week.
And in a bid to get a better replacement to save The Miners from being relegated at the end of the season, insiders at the Obuasi-based club have revealed that they are in talks with the Japanese trainer.
Top hierarchy of the club’s management are believed to have held advanced talks with the flamboyant Japanese trainer and could name him as the head coach of The Miners in the coming weeks.
Kenichi Yatsuhashi who had a fine start with Hearts of Oak last season before parting company with the club after the first round is hugely loved by many Ghanaians for his touchline antics.
He is currently in Cambodia and final talks with the Fianoo-led management will see him back in Ghana.
The Miners who struggled throughout last season have had a poor start this season, picking just 8 points out of possible 27 and lying 15 on the 16-club league table.
Top board and management members believe the Japanese trainer could turn things around for the Elephants.
Kenichi built a strong Hearts side that set many new records in the league including ending Berekum Chelsea’s 43-games unbeaten run and took the team to second position on the table before leaving.
