The Ghana FA's technical director Francis Oti Akenteng has slammed video analyst Gerard Nus for claiming that he was the first assistant coach of the Black Stars.
Nus claimed his position on the Black Stars management team was the first assistant to departed coach, Avram Grant with Maxwell Konadu the second assistant.
This claims runs contrary to what the GFA has all along insisted while facts on the ground points to Konadu's position.
The GFA announced last week that the Spanish was brought in to help the backroom staff as a video analyst insisting that Maxwell Konadu was the assistant during Grant's reign.
Now Akenteng, who leads the technical direction of the federation, insists Nus was not appointed by the GFA but was brought by Grant.
Akenteng even revealed that Nus was brought in on temporary basis to boost the backroom staff during competitions only and cannot pass himself off as the assistant coach of the national team.
“GFA didn’t appoint Gerard Nus, Avram Grant brought him, it wasn’t any game that Nus came in, Akenteng told Asafo FM.
"Avram on some occasions requested for his inclusion but we (GFA) ignored on some occasions, but since the African Nations Cup tournament is a big tournament we (GFA) accepted and decided to bring him in.
“It is not every match that Nus came in to help, sometimes Avram Grant will request for his services but sometimes we do reject it.”
Nus left the country on Sunday night after he was settled by the Ghana Football Association for his services for the Black Stars team during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former liverpool U-21 coach spent seven weeks in Ghana fighting for his outstanding bonuses which was paid to him over the weekend.
The 32-year-old Spaniard claims he is currently the assistant technical director of Rayo Vallecano in Spain even though he spent seven weeks in Ghana doing nothing.
