Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Francis Oti Akenteng says it be an uphill task for the Black Stars to pip Egypt for the 2018 FIFA World Cup ticket.
The Black Stars are on the verge of missing out on the global football fiesta in Russia following their underwhelming qualifying campaign in Group D, where they have accumulated only one point from their opening two games.
Meanwhile, Egypt who are touted as Ghana’s main opponent for the sole ticket in group sits at the summit of the log with six points from two games.
The Black Stars will need to win their remaining four matches, and rely on other results from their opponents before having a realistic chance of making it to the competition.
Nevertheless, Oti Akenteng insists that the task at hand looks very arduous but they will not throw in the towel just yet as they will continue to fight up until the last game of the qualifiers.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Boss FM, Oti said, “It’s not an easy task to qualify ahead of Egypt. If we (Ghana) were leading Egypt by five points, we wouldn’t allow them to qualify ahead of us so they won’t allow us to qualify too.”
“Despite how difficult it’ll be, we will still try our possible best to qualify for the World Cup. We should be hopeful that we will win our remaining matches and hope of qualifying,” he added.
