Africa cemented its position as the largest football bloc at FIFA when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unanimously admitted semi-autonomous Zanzibar as its 55th member.
Zanzibar was admitted as a full member of the CAF during Thursday's 39th Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa.
The proposal by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Mr. Jamal Malinzi was unanimously adopted by the 54 member associations present.

With the new status Zanzibar will be fully in charge of their national teams and will get direct funding from CAF and FIFA.
