Chairman of the Northern Region Football Association Abdulai Alhassan has revealed his intentions of taking over cash-strapped Bolga All Stars insisting ‘… we can’t afford to lose another Premier League club’.
According to youngest Ghana FA ExCo member, the absence of Bolga All Stars from the north will automatically rob them of the opportunity of Premier League football which has eluded the region since RTU were relegated six years ago.
“For six years now, there has not been any Premier League club in the northern region. The absence of RTU is a big blow so we couldn’t have afforded to accept a second blow like that,” he told GHANAsoccertnet.
“I have been a champion of an agenda to get the northern part of Ghana to catch up with the development of the other parts.
“So when I nosed that the club was to be moved to the Brong Ahafo region, I knew the disadvantage it will have on us so I decided to move for it to keep the club up north here,” he added.
The former footballer who is not only the RFA Boss in the north but also the owner of Tamale Utrecht Academy gazumped Nana Ameyaw of Techiman to take over the club when the people of the Brong Ahafo town were almost embracing Bolga All Stars.
