Former Ghana coach Avram Grant is among the coaches South Africa Football Association (SAFA) is considering for the vacant coaching job, GhanaSoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
According to sources, contact has been made with 62-year-old about the possibility of taking up the team’s rein as the search for Ephriam Mashaba gathers pace.
SAFA have received many spontaneous CV’s of coaches interested in the job and been contacted by agents offering other candidates, and the selection process was thought to have ended after reports went rife that the football association has settled choosing between Herve Renard and Carlos Quiroz.
However, Israeli trainer has emerged as one of the top coaches SAFA is reckoning for the hot seat due to his exploits with the Black Stars where he led the team to finish second in his maiden Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea tournament in 2015 before guiding them to a fourth-place finish in the just ended edition in Gabon.
His previous coaching experience include Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Haifa, Israeli national team, Chelsea, Portsmouth, West Ham United, Partizan Belgrade and was a technical director at Thai side BEC Tero Sasana before taking up the Ghana job.
