Director of Special Olympics Emmanuel Kobina Baidoo has thrown his weight behind Marcel Desailly as the next Black Stars coach.
Many pundits have given their take on the debate of which Ghanaian coach deserve to be handed the Black Stars rein, but Kobina Biadoo believes the team will be in good hands if Ghanaian-born former French international Marcel Desailly is appointed.
“My choice is Marcel Desailly. This is because he is an international icon and he has captained the French national team before and won the World Cup with them and he has reached the highest point in football administration,” Baidoo told Graphic Sports.
“Aside from the above-mentioned credentials, he is an ambassador for FIFA too and he is invited to be FIFA programmes most of the time because they know what he has achieved in football.”
“His playmate was Zinedine Zidane who is now coaching Real Madrid so I am confident that with such credentials, our players will have respect for him. If we appoint him as coach and give him the necessary support, but not as ‘Ghanaian local coach’, it will be very good for the Black Stars team because he can take them to any level.”
The Ghana FA has constituted a six-member committee headed by Kwesi Nyantakyi to head hunt a replacement for the departed Avram Grant.
