Juaso (Ash), Jan. 01, GNA – Mr. Kwaku Asante-Boatenghe Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Akim South, has organized a Christmas gala competition for various communities across the Municipality as part of efforts to mobilize the youth for victory 2020.
The Municipality was divided into 10 zones for the pre-tournament qualifiers after which 24 communities converged at Juaso, the Municipal capital for the finals.
Each community prior to the competition was given a set of jersey, one football and money, depending on the distance to the capital.
Asankare emerged the overall winner after beating Morso on penalties and took home the coveted trophy, 200 bags of cement, six packets of roofing sheets, two sets of jerseys, three footballs and a cash of GH? 3,000.00.
Morso and Dampong who were the first and second runner up respectively also walk away with a total of GH? 3,000.00, 150 bags of cement, six packets of roofing sheets, two sets of jerseys and three footballs.
The competition was full of excitement and fanfare as people from all the participating communities trooped to the Juaso Senior High School where it was held to support their teams.
Also in attendance were some national and regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), chiefs and queen mothers of some communities and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Alexander Frimpong.
Mr. Asante-Boateng said the initiative apart from mobilizing the youth in the Municipality for a resounding victory for the NPP in 2020 was also to foster unity among the various communities as one people.
He was happy about the talents that were exhibited during the competition and charged them to work hard since they had the potentials to become great footballers in the near future.
He advised the youth to be moderate when having fun during the yuletide, saying that, their contribution to national development was very crucial.
