Accra, Dec. 27, GNA – The Management of Crime Check Foundation, (CCF), a Crime Prevention Advocacy Organization, has feted a number of widows and ex-convicts in Accra.
The event was to put smiles on the faces of widows, ex-convicts, vulnerable and less privileged in society, who have benefitted from benevolent activities of the Foundation throughout the year with kind courtesy of their donors.
Prior to the get-together, the Foundation distributed bags of rice, cooking oil, cartoons tomato paste and over one hundred fowls to many within and outside Accra.
Mr Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the Executive Director of CCF, said the Foundation started with the “Time with the Prisoners Series” and has gone beyond to introduce more programmes, including the Health Check Series, Ex-Convict Reintegration Project, Petty Offenders Project and the Philanthropy Project.
“With the understanding that detention in whatever form is injurious to health, CCF has gone beyond the prisons, through our Health Check Series, we have come to the aid of many Ghanaians who have been detained in hospitals because of their inability to settle their bills and solicited support for the many others, who require surgery,” he added.
He said the Foundation’s Philanthropy Project, premised on the idea that- (there are many in Ghana, who live virtually in prisons outside prison because of poverty), has provided livelihood support for many poor individuals and families.
He commended the Ministry of Interior and the Ghana Prisons Service for the opportunity given to access the prisons, as a journalist to effect change.
He also used the opportunity to commend their donors, who continually support the activities of the Foundation.
Mr S.K.B Rabbles, the Former Deputy Director General of Prisons, applauded the contributions of the Foundation for their support to decongest the country’s prisons, through their Petty Offenders Project.
He urged the ex-convicts to stay out of trouble and try to be within the confines of the laws of the country.
The Former Deputy Director said: “Make sure you do not go back to prison.”
Ms Rashida Rashid, a Nursing Officers at the Kasoa Polyclinic, urged the participants to exercise regularly and report to the clinic or health facility on time with their illnesses.
As part of the event, Management donated wax prints and cash and other items to some of the participants and they were provided with advice on how to be financially independent and take proper account of their businesses.
