Akatsi (VR), Dec.26, GNA - A total of five babies, four females and a male were delivered on Christmas Day at the Akatsi South District Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital, all in the Akatsi South District of Volta Region.
Three babies, all females, were recorded at the Akatsi District Hospital whiles two were delivered at the St. Paul’s Hospital Limited.
Mrs Bridget Bockor, Senior Midwifery Officer (SMO) at the Labour Ward, Akatsi District Hospital, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the three babies were all delivered normally.
She said the first baby was delivered at 0705 hours followed by the second at 1558 hours and the third at 1903 hours.
Mrs. Bocker said the festive season would not affect staff performance on emergency cases and others and encouraged clients to rush to the facility when they needed health care.
Madam Agnes Shitor, a 25 year old mother, in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) expressed gratitude to God for granting her a child on a memorable day celebrated all over the world.
She was also thankful to her husband for the supports she received from the day she took seed till delivery.
Another mother said she was more than happy to give birth on Christmas day, saying her new baby would be a wonderful child in future.
Dr. Nicolas Kyeremeh, the Medical Superintendent of Akatsi District Hospital, said it was work as usual.
At the St. Paul’s Hospital Limited, Mrs. Fautina Awuku, second In-charge at the Maternity Ward told the GNA the two babies were delivered at 1439 hours and 1620 hours respectively.
Dr. Paul Dagbui, owner of the Hospital, expressed excitement for recording Christmas babies at the facility.
He also assured the public of their readiness to attend to all cases during the festive season.
The Ghana News Agency was told all the five babies were in good condition and would soon be discharged.
Activities including sports and food bazaars form part of programmes lined up for the festive season in the Akatsi South District.
