Tema Dec 10, GNA - With barely a week to the District Level elections, residents of Padmore Electoral Area in Tema Community One, have had a vital broken bridge repaired by Mr Hamza Issaka, an aspiring Assembly member.
The concrete bridge which links Site 21 and Site 7 was in a state of disrepair, making it difficult for residents to easily commute between the two sites.
Mr Issaka said he realized that community members were having a hard time using the broken bride which spanned a deep and wide storm drain.
On why he wanted to be an Assembly man, he revealed that he was the former campaign manager for the incumbent assembly man and realizing that various assembly members of the area had failed to bring the needed development to the people, he decide to offer himself for community service.
The work of an assembly member is to lobby the Metropolitan Assembly for development in the respective area as well as to help formulate byelaws for the Metropolis especially on sanitation and other developmental issues, he said.
Mr Issaka said when voted for, he would lobby the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), community members, the Member of Parliament, companies and non-governmental organizations, to initiate developmental programmes and provide the needed skills for the youth in the community.
He indicated that companies in Tema must be lobbied to provide job opportunities for the youth in the area saying the youth used have jobs in most local companies.
Mr Hamza is among seven aspirants seeking to represent the Padmore area.
