Accra, Dec 4, GNA - Ahantaman Girls Senior High School (SHS) Old Students Association-Global (AHOSA Global) will be organising a homecoming at their alma mater, Ahantaman Girls SHS.
It is on the theme; AHOSA Global/Royal Homecoming, comprised old students of all year groups of the school.
Mr Fiifi Odoom, an Old Student, 1975 year group, recounted the changing phases of the school.
He said the school was built in 1948 by an educationist called Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Idun, adding that, it started as Takoradi Commercial Academy with five students and later renamed Royal Commercial College, after it was absorbed by the Ghana Education Service.
"The school was again renamed Royal Commercial Secondary School, since both commercial and secondary school subjects were studied.
In 1980, the school adopted a name from the traditional area and became Ahantaman SHS, before it was made a single-sex girls school, Ahantaman Girls SHS, on November 17, 2010," he said.
Mr Odoom said the significance of the homecoming was to bring together all old students of the school and it was the first time all the year groups of the school were coming together to participate in the programme.

He indicated that they would undertake projects in the school, including; the renovation of the Science and ICT labs and an establishment of a well-resourced robotics laboratory.
He said on Sunday they would have thanksgiving service at the school church.
