Nkawie, (Ash), Dec. 03, GNA – The Nkawie Circuit Court, has remanded a 25-year-old mason into prison custody for allegedly possessing offensive weapons and committing robbery at Ahwerewa in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.
Richmond Addai, alias Yakubu, pleaded not guilty and would reappear before the Court on December 17, this year.
Police Inspector Ruth Gborson, prosecuting, told the Court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that, Addai and his accomplice, who is on the run, attacked and robbed two friends on October 24, this year.
He said the accused hired the services of the first complainant, Frederick Ofori, to use his tricycle (rickshaw), to convey them from Ahwerewa to Bonteeso, another community in the Municipality.
The Prosecution said Ofori asked his friend, Emmanuel Nuako Manu to join him on the journey.
He said on the way, the accused emerged from a bush and ordered the motor rider to park near a bushy area.
Prosecution said the two pulled a locally-made pistol, a double-edged hammer and a cutlass, attacking the rider and his friend.
The accused and his accomplice succeeded in taking away their mobile phones, a cash of GH¢270.00 and a pair of slippers and bolted with the booty.
Inspector Gborson said a report was made to the Police and on November 09, this year, Addai was spotted at Ahwerewa and he was arrested.
He said during Police interrogation, he denied the offence but after further investigations, he was charged and brought before the Court.
