Accra, Nov 28, GNA - Christians have been reminded that leading exemplary lives is another way of winning souls to Christ.
"We need to live as people of God, in order to attract others to Christianity."
Rev. Captain (Ghana Navy) Paul Adjei-Djan, Director of Religious Affairs, Ghana Armed Forces, said this in Accra, at a church service to mark the 50th anniversary of the Arakan Methodist Presbyterian Church, Burma Camp,
Quoting Mathew Chapter 28 verses 18 to 20, he said that portions of the Bible known as the "Great Commission", enjoined all Christians to win souls to Christ.
Rev Adjei-Djan said it was unfortunate that many Christians, while attending Church and involving themselves with several religious activities on one hand, did not lead Godly lives.
He said some even deceived and misled others into all sorts of questionable practices in the name of Christianity.
As Christians, we must be able to speak the truth. If it is not good, we should be bold to say it is not good," said Rev. Adjei-Djan.
He said issues such as crime and environmental degradation could be better addressed if Christians practised and enforced good habits within the society.
Rev. Adjei-Djan urged Christian leaders to endeavor to teach the true principles of Christianity especially to the young and up-coming faithful, in order to preserve the values of the Christian faith.
The programme was chaired by Lt. Gen Obed Boamah Akwa, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), and had Lt. Gen Joseph Boateng Danquah (Rtd), member of council of State and a former CDS as special guest of honor.
A children's day, health week and mini-harvest, have already been held to commemorate the anniversary.
The Arakan Methodist Presbyterian Church which had one of the classrooms of the Arakan Basic Schools as its place of worship in 1969, was now hosted in a multi-purpose building.
