Dadoto (O/R), Nov. 23, GNA - A 13-member committee has been inaugurated at Dadoto, a fishing community in the Krachi East Municipality to help curb the increasing rate of teenage pregnancy in the area.
The committee, made up of young people, is to assist in health promotion and educate the locals on family planning and responsible parenthood.
The members are: Mr Etse Agbanyo, President; Mr Samuel Jagri , Vice President; Mr Francis Sodzenu, Secretary; Mr Emmanuel Mboriche, Assistant Secretary; and Miss Victoria Adeti, Treasurer.
The rest are: Miss Mary Ujabo, Financial Secretary; Manine Babayi, Organiser; Mr Anthony Sodzenu, Assistant Organiser; Mr Stephen Agbanyo, Public Relations Officer; Mr Olu Niliwin (Vice PRO); Mr Buyor Bobo, Announcer; Mr Sampson Lotame, Deputy Announcer; and Etornam Tsakesu, Founder.
Mr Amin Abdul, Krachi East Municipal Director of Health Services, said the committee would educate teenagers on sexually transmitted diseases and the need to avoid indulging in unprotected sex.
Mr Abdul said the committee would also educate members of the public on the importance of sleeping under treated mosquito nets, while impressing on parents to immunise their children against the six killer diseases.
He said the committee has raised funds in aid of a pavilion for reproductive and child health services and expressed the hope that the work of members would improve the health service delivery in the Municipality.
