Nkawie, (Ash), Nov. 21, GNA – The Nkawie Circuit Court has remanded a 23-year-old driver’s mate into prison custody for robbing a trader at Asuofua in the Atwima-Nwabiagya North District.
Rashid Musah pleaded not guilty and would reappear before the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey on December 03, this year.
Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sylvanus Da’lmeida, told the court that, the complainant was a trader at Asuofua, where the suspect also resides.
He said on November 17 this year, at about 2200 hours, the suspect trailed the complainant who was on her way home after close of work.
The Prosecution said the accused accosted complainant at a point, pulled a knife and demanded she hand over her handbag.
He said the suspect threatened to kill the complainant if she failed to surrender to him, her bag which contained an amount of GH¢1,800.00 and other valuables.
He said for fear of her life, she gave the handbag to accused and shouted for help.
DSP Da’lmeida said some people responding to the “SOS” call, came out, chased the suspect and arrested him.
He said he was then handed over to the Adankwame police and during interrogation, the suspect admitted the offence.
He was later charged and brought before the Court.
