Akim Oda (E/R), Nov. 13, GNA - Mr Stephen Agodzi, a staff of the Akim Oda Government Hospital, has been adjudged the Most Promising Nurse of the Year 2019 for the Eastern Region.
He was presented with a citation and a parcel from the Eastern Regional Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
Mr Michael Asante, the Akim Oda Zonal Chairman,GRNMA, announced this when he launched the Zone’s Week on the theme: "Health for All: Nurses and Midwives, A Voice to Lead," at Akim Oda.
The week-long celebrations would be characterised with activities such as blood donation, eye examination, diet therapy, free general health screening and a float on the principal streets of Oda.
Mr Asante said the Oda Zone comprises of the Akyemansa District, Birim Central Municipality and Birim South District and that there were plans to institute a District Award Scheme for hard working nurses and midwives within the zone by next year.
He urged nurses to warmly receive patients and offer them much care and attention.
Mr Agodzi in a speech, gave the assurance that he would continue to offer relentless services to the country for others to emulate.
Mrs Stella Owusu Konadu, Birim South District Health Director, speaking on the recent outbreak of influenza Type ‘A’ (H3N3), advised the citizenry to regularly go for health examination for the early detection of any infection.
Mr Alexander Kwasi Acquah, Chief Executive Officer, Akim Oda Community Hospital, who chaired the function, asked nurses to stay focused on their vocation by showing professionalism at work.
