Accra, Nov. 12, GNA – The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG), has declared its intention of embarking on an indefinite industrial action from Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
The action is to back their demand for the assenting and implementation of the report by the Committee set up by the Judicial Council over salary reviews and negotiations for the staff of the Service.
A statement signed, and copied to the Ghana News Agency by Mr Alex Nartey, the National President of JUSAG, said since the intention of the action was disclosed in a letter, issued on November 1, 2019, there had been numerous meetings with Management and the National Labour Commission.
Meanwhile, all efforts by the leadership of JUSAG to receive copies of the requisite reports had proved futile.
The statement explained that after a meeting of the leadership with the National Labour Commission on November 11, 2019, it also had a meeting with the Association’s Regional Executives and rank and file.
After the meeting was held, members of the Association were given approval to proceed accordingly, since they had complied with the procedures under the 1992 Constitution regarding their conditions of service, the statement said.
“In view of the above, the leadership of JUSAG is left with no option than to declare an indefinite strike action to demand the assenting and implementation of the Judicial Council Committee's report.”
According to the statement, no staff or member of JUSAG shall report to work on Wednesday November 13, 2019 and until the implementation of the report, no staff or member of JUSAG shall report to work.
However, it said, the Security Personnel of the Judicial Service shall report to work to protect lives and property.
It called on all staff and members of JUSAG to comply with the above directives and stay tuned for further notice.
