Accra, Nov. 12, GNA - FBNBank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria, has presented cash of GH¢20,000.00 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in support of its 70th Anniversary and 24th Awards Night programme.
Mr William Amon Neequaye, Head, Commercial Banking of FBNBank Ghana, said the donation formed part of the Bank’s commitment to support a free, relevant and responsive media.
It also underscored the Bank’s resolve to nurture a closely knitted relationship with the media.
He said: “A free media is essential in developing the democratic framework of the country and has a role to play in facilitating Ghana’s Economic and Human development.”
Thus the Bank also found it worthy to partner the GJA to boost the professional performance of its members .
FBNBank Ghana Limited has more than 21 footprints in Ghana and over 400 staff, is part of the trade hub that has grown economies for over 125 years across Africa, Europe and China.
Mr Affail Monney, President of GJA who received the donation thanked the bank for supporting the Association saying the bank would reap maximise support from the media.
Mr Monney said financial institutions have a responsibility to contribute to the social uplift of the society within which they operate.
He observed that the donation has a come at a time that some financial institutions were struggling to survive and were also finding it difficult to part with money.
The GJA President further commended FBNBank for rallying to their assistance saying that relationship between the association and bank would see an improvement in the coming years.
