Ada (GAR), July 28, GNA - MTN Ghana, a telecommunication company, has donated a cheque for 10,000 Ghana Cedis and other items to the Ada Traditional Council towards its annual Asafotufiami festival.
Other items include MTN recharge cards worth GH?1,000.00, a drink hamper and souvenirs.
Mr Mohammed Tiyuniba Yakubu, South East Business District’s Regional Sales Manager for MTN, presenting the items, said his outfit would also provide 40 canopies for the festival durbar in addition to a GH?15,000.00 sponsorship package for the royal walk, community gala and health screening, which all formed part of programmes lined up for the Asafotufiami.
Mr Yakubu said the presentation was to thank the people of Ada for their loyalty and support for the MTN brand for the past 12 years.
He indicated that the company was committed to supporting the promotion of Ghana’s rich culture through festivals adding that selected traditional authorities across the country would be supported to celebrate their festivals very year.
He added that relationships was one of their values and that such festivals helped to deepen their bond with the traditional area as well as to celebrate with them.
Nene Agudey Obiahere III, Ada Mankralo, thanked MTN on behalf of the Traditional Council and assured that there would be maximum security before and during the festival.
Nene Obiahere noted that the Council had met with the security agencies especially the Ghana Police Service which had promised to bring in a reinforced team for the festival which would commence on Thursday August 1, 2019.
The Asafotufiami festival is celebrated annually by the people of Ada to commemorate ancient wars fought by their ancestors.
