Nkawie, (Ash), July 09, GNA – Nana Amoateng Tuffuor, the Ankobeahene of the Tepa Traditional area in the Ahafo-Ano North Municipality, has been remanded into police custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court on a charge of allegedly defrauding a businessman at Tepa.
His plea was not taken and would make his next appearance in the Court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey on July 22, this year.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Jonas Newlove Agyei, told the Court that, the complainant was a businessman, while the accused was a sub-chief in the Tepa traditional area.
He said on March 12, last year the complainant who was looking for a room to rent as a shop to carry on trading activities, consulted the chief who agreed to give him one.
The Prosecution said the chief demanded GH?9,000.00 from the complainant who then made a down payment of GH?7,000.00 and pay the remainder by installment in two months.
Inspector Agyei said after receiving the money, the accused refused to show the complainant the said room that he paid for.
He said after numerous demand notices, the complainant reported the matter to the Tepa Police, who arrested the chief and after investigations, charged and brought him before the Court.
