Koforidua, July 9, GNA - The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has ordained 25 candidates in to full time ministry with a call to go and make a difference in the world by transforming the lives of people.
The ordination follows completion of two-year probation by the candidates from five presbyteries including Akuapem, Akyem-Abuakwa, Kwahu, Dangme-Tongu and Volta presbyteries, after their ministerial training, at the Ascension Congregation of the Church in Koforidua.
Preaching the sermon on the theme: “Go and make Disciples of all Nations”, Reverend Benson Osafo Kantanka, Chairman, Asante Presbytery, said making disciples of all nations was a commission by Jesus to all men especially those who profess to know him and that the ordination was a reminder of that great commission given by the savior himself.
He said “that commission by Jesus Christ is not about dressing and claiming titles, it’s about evangelism that wins souls for the kingdom of God” and urged the ordained ministers to be careful not to fall to worldly things such as struggling for power and recognition.
Reverend Kantanka urged the newly ordained ministers to embark on an aggressive evangelism to win souls for Christ not for the growth of church membership but to transform people’s lives such that they stay in tune with the word of God.
He said it was one thing being called by God and another thing winning the approval of God and reminded the ministers and all Christians to be mindful of their call to serve, adding that God would call everyone to account according to his call and service.
