Accra, June 27, GNA - The International Games and Competition Committee (IGCC) – a committee formed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), to supervise the participation of Ghana at the 2019 Africa Games and other international competitions, has established sub-committees to implement their plans for the continental show piece.
The seven sub-committees would be headed by Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah (Technical), Mr Richard Akpokavie (Medical), Reverend Richmond Quarcoo (Protocol).
The rest were Mr George Owusu Ansah (Logistic), Mr. Magnus RexDanquah (Marketing, Sponsors and Media Sub), Mr Salisu Omaru and Mr Emmanuel Oteng (Finance and Budgeting).
At a press conference in Accra on Thursday, Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) said, the sub-committees' work or decisions would be subjected to the IGCC's approval before they would be implemented.
On his part, the move was to ensure proper supervision so that the work of the Sub-Committee would be in line with the objectives of the IGCC adding that, the Sub-Committee has a defined role set by the IGCC.
Ghana would take part in 18 disciplines including Football, Karate, Cycling, Athletics at the Africa Games and the Director General noted that, Ghana would take quality athletes to the event to win laurels for the nation.
He added that, the athletes have started preparations for the 12th edition Africa Games and believes Ghana would win a lot of gold medals at the event.
