Accra, June 26, GNA - Mr Francis Kingsley Ato Codjoe, MP for Ekumfi Constituency, in the Central Region, has advised school pupils and students to attend to their studies as this would better lives.
He said if they applied themselves, coupled with good moral upbringing, they would guarantee for themselves improved lifestyles, to their own benefit and that of their communities.
Mr Codjoe gave the advice in an interaction with students of Aburaman Senior High School who visited Parliament, in Accra, recently
The students observed proceedings in the chamber from the public gallery, and among the proceedings for the day, June 19, 2019, was a statement from Madam Abena Durowaa Mensah, MP for Assin North, in which she called for concerted efforts between the government and the private sector to promote the study of science and mathematics in senior high schools.
Later, in the interaction with the students, Mr Codjoe, explained the work of Parliament to the young students and advised them to stick to their books and be prepared to take the mantle of leadership when the time comes.
The Legislator explained the process of making laws to students and urged them to be good ambassadors of their school and the Constituency.
He said they need to use their time in school profitably, and acquire skills that would make them employable in the future and commended President Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo Addo for implementing the free Senior High School policy.
Mr Codjoe commended the students on their visit, and promised to continue offer packages that would promote education in the area.
Among the packages, he said, which have already introduced are the donation of computers to some basic schools in the area, including the Otabaadze Junior High School (JHS), and Narkwa Methodist JHS, and Imuna Islamic JHS.
Master Richard Sekyi, one of the students, described the premises of Parliament as a “nice place” and said they had learned a lot from the visit.
