Kasseh-Ada, June 18, GNA – Ms Blessing Yormesah,an 11-year-old-girl, died instantly, when an Accra-Aflao bound car, hit her while she was crossing the Highway at Whuakpo near Kasseh.
The driver, involved, Mawuli Amuzu, aged 39, is currently in police custody at Kasseh, assisting with investigations.
Mr Benony Agbo, a Police Inspector in charge of Motor Traffic Division (MTTD) at Ada Divisional Police Command, confirmed the accident to the Ghana News Agency.
He said on Saturday, May 15, Mr Amuzu, who was driving a Toyota Corolla saloon car, with registration number VR 122 - 18, was travelling from Accra to Aflao.
Mr Agbo said at a spot near a Gas sales station at Whuakpo at about 1830 hours, the victim, who was crossing the highway from the opposite side, spotted the car on top speed, and having already entered into the car's lane, she stopped to avoid being hit.
He said Amuzu also apparently spotted the girl entering the road and stopping in his lane, but could not control the car and ran into the victim, killing her.
Mr Agbo said the suspect would be put before court soon, being charged for Careless Driving and Negligently causing harm.
Agbo said the body of the victim was deposited at Ada East District Hospital Morgue pending autopsy.
