Takoradi, June18, GNA - Mr Asare Baffour Gyan, Deputy Director of the Western Regional Electoral Commission (EC) has called on people who turned eighteen and first time registrants to patronize the limited registration exercise currently on going.
He explained that the exercise formed part of the Commission's preparations towards the conduct of the 2019 Metropolitan, Municipal and district level elections.
Mr Gyan made the called when the GNA visited the EC office on Monday to ascertain the progress of the limited registration exercise in the Metropolis.
He said the exercise was to register Ghanaians who have turned 18 years or more and of sound mind and could not register in the last Registration exercise due to one reason or the other to do so.
As at 15 hours a total of 89 eligible voters had registered with 38 coming from Takoradi while 51 from Effia-Kwesimintsim.
He said three centres have been created for the exercise in the Metropolis and added that everything was in place to make the exercise a success.
Mr Gyan however appealed to the security personnel and party agents to play their roles effectively to ensure sanity during the exercise.
The exercise which started on Monday June 17 would end on Sunday 7 July 2019.
