Sefwi-Wiawso (WNR) June 12, GNA – Most Reverend Joseph Francis Kweku Essien, the Catholic Bishop of Wiawso Diocese, has urged Christians in the country to uphold the virtue of truthfulness at all times.
He said although Christians formed a greater percentage of the Ghanaian population, they failed to impact positively on the nation due to compromises.
Bishop Essien gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, after celebrating Pentecost Day at the St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral at Sefwi Wiawso.
He explained that the day marked the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus Christ, after His resurrection to propagate the gospel of salvation and do exploits.
The Catholic Bishop further stated that "courage ,understanding, fear of God, good counselling, wisdom, knowledge and piety were gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to every true follower of Christ(Christian), and stressed that anyone who still fears to tell the truth, doesn’t have the holy spirit in him to impact positively on the society.
“Today’s Christians fail to tell the truth, and we always compromise, unlike the Apostles of old who stood up and died for the truth,” he lamented.
He therefore urged Christians and Ghanaians in general, to desist from blaming the leadership of the country for their woes, but rather have courage and fear of God , to right the wrongs in our society, to make it a better place for now and posterity.
