Accra, June 11, GNA - Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been arrested by the Police Criminal Investigation Department.
A press statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ms Juliana Obeng, Public Relations Officer of the CID, said he was picked up at Number Three Church Street Labone.
They had obtained an arrest and search warrant following his refusal to cooperate with their ongoing investigations.
The CID has been investigating various acts of kidnapping and causing unlawful damage in which it says credible and actionable intelligence makes Mr. Ofosu Ampofo a suspect.
The police called on all to continue to remain calm and to cooperate with them as it maintained law and order in the society.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, Ghana News Agency (GNA), gathered has been granted bail and would report to the police on Thursday.
