Suntreso Gov’t Hospital takes delivery of two patients’ monitors

Kumasi, June 11, GNA – The Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi, on Tuesday took delivery of two sets of patients’ monitors worth £2,000.00 to aid efficient and effective health care delivery at the facility.

The Atwima Kroye Kuo, a benevolent organization of citizens of Asante Atwima based in the United Kingdom, donated the critical health care equipment to support the hospital provide quality health care services to the huge clientele in its catchment area.

Dr. Thomas Agyarko-Poku, the Medical Superintendent who received the items, said the hundred bed facility had only four patients’ monitor.

He said “monitors were essential for hospitals, and indeed it is expected that each bed should have one monitor or at least two beds should share one”.

Dr Agyarko-Poku stressed the need for such benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the facility to help provide quality health services to the people.

The Medical Superintendent said the lack of space to expand facilities was a huge challenge facing the hospital which cared for between 600-800 patients each day.

The Suntreso Government Hospital was established about seventy years ago and needed maintenance and retooling to be able to deliver quality services to the people in the southern part of Kumasi.

Mr Benjamin Owusu Afriyie, President of the Group, said they had in the past years, donated similar items to KATH and KNUST Hospitals.

The aim was to help equip these facilities to provide quality healthcare to the people and reduce frequent patient referrals to KATH for advanced treatment.
