Milo U13- Myohuang Forces crowned Zone Three champions

Accra, June 10, GNA - Myohuang Forces registered their superiority in the Milo Under-13 champions league, as they were crowned the Zone Three champions for the second time after beating Talent Bridge Academy 2-1 in the finals held in Takoradi.

The Milo U13 champions league Zone Three comprised 16 schools from the Central, Western and Western North Regions battling for a spot in the national finals at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) campus in Takoradi, the Western parts of Ghana.

The 16 schools were taken through validity checks by the director of Physical Education (PE) from the Ghana Education Service and also had a football clinic session prior to the competition by former Black Stars striker Augustine Ahinful and assistant of the technical director for the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng.

The games started with a heated game between Alavanyo D/A against Myohuang Barack Basics, which ended with Alavanyo winning 2-0.

In another fixture involving Myohuang Forces and Myohuang Basics, the forces were a force to reckon with as they recorded a 2-0 victory.

The other high profile game was between Nyenesi Catholic and A&D Memorial as both teams met in the final group game to decide who advances to the next phase - both were on six points before kick-off, but it was Nyenesi who won the game on penalties after it ended goalless within regulation time to set up a decider against Talent Bridge Academy.

At the end of day one, it was Myohuang Forces and Juaboso D/A from the Western and Western North Regions respectively who booked tickets to play at the national level.

Day two started on a high note with which team picks a slot at the finals to represent the Central Region in a match involving Talent Bridge Academy and Nyenesi Catholic Primary. Talents Bridge were a hard nut to crack for their contenders.

Talents Bridge won 2-0 and picked the last slot in the Zone to reprsent the Central Region in the finals.

For the zonal champions, the qualified schools had to battle to determine who wears the zonal crown. A ballot had to be conducted among Talent Bridge, Myohuang and Juaboso D/A   to know who draws by and who faces who in the semis. It was Talent Bridge Academy who picked the standby option and Myohuang Forces locked horns with Juaboso D/A in the semis.

Myohuang Forces needed all the forces available to overcome a tough to crack Juaboso side. A second-half goal from Kweku Opare was enough to send the defending champions to their second successive zonal finals.

In the finals, the highest scoring side, Talent Bridge Academy with 13 goals pushed to score the best defensive side Myohuang Force who hasn’t conceded in the whole tournament.

However, it Myohuang Forces' Daniel Afful who scored the opener in the first half for his side against the run of play. The goal didn’t force Talent Bridge into panic mode, they kept their shape and played their tested system. Their efforts paid off on the stroke of half time when they were awarded a penalty but Matthew Addae's kick was saved by Myohuang's goalie Edmund Kwofie.

From recess, Talent Bridge pressed high and pushed for the equaliser and that paid off as Emmanuel Arthur finally restored parity for his side with a beautiful solo goal.

However, their jubilation was cut short by Opare who scored to give his side the victory.

Myohuang Forces were crowned Zone Three Champions for the second successive year running after beating Talent Bridge Academy 2-1 in the finals.

At the end, A&B Memorial Basic School were adjudged the fair play school, with Edmund Kwofie of Myohuang Forces wining the best goalie award and the best player for zone three went to Matthew Addae of Talent Bridge Academy.

Bright Owusu of Myohuang Forces won the most valuable player in the final match, whilst John Afful of Juaboso D/A, Hamza Iliasu and Kingsley Amoah of Talent Bridge emerged the top goalscorers with five goals each. 

The Zone Four of the Milo Under 13 Champions league would come off from Wednesday June 12-14 at the Kpando Senior High school in the Volta Region. Zone 4 comprises of 16 schools from, Eastern, Volta, Oti and Greater Accra Regions. Four schools will pick a slot for the finals fixed for July 3 at the Paa Joe Park in Kumasi.
