BECE takes off smoothly in Sekondi- Takoradi Metropolis

Takoradi, June 11, GNA - This year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) took off smoothly in all the examination centres in the Sekondi -Takoradi Metropolis on Monday.

Many of the centres the GNA visited saw a smooth and calm atmosphere with enough security and examination materials available.

At the Ghana Senior High Technical School, which has three centres recorded one absentee during English paper on Monday.

The absentee was later identified as a student of Bishop Essuah who was allegedly murdered at the Monkey Hill near new Takoradi few months ago.

A total number of 632 out of 633 candidates from 13 schools are writing their exams at G. S. T. S.

The Bompeh School also has three centers, A, B, and C with a total of 920 candidates from 15 schools taking their examination there.

Two students one each from korsah school complex and Air force JHS were absent leaving the number at 918

The Bethel Methodist JHS centre has five schools with a total of 256 candidates and one absentee.

At the Naval Base center, a total of 201 students from six different schools wrote their examination with no absentee.

All the centres the GNA visited recorded no case of pregnancies or casualties as all students were calmed behind the papers.

The Western Regional Minister, Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, for his part wished the candidates well in the exams and promised to award students who performed excellently above average.

In a message from the regional minister and copied to the GNA to candidates, teachers and parents said: “I wish all Candidates of the Western Region the best of Luck and promise to award students who perform excellently above the national average.

“Teachers, parents, schools and communities who perform above the national average will receive special awards from my office."
