Ho, June 10, GNA - The 2019 Basic Examination Certificate Examination (BECE) has commenced smoothly in the Volta Region with a total of 37, 785 candidates sitting for the examination.
A total of 1,393 schools are participating in 133 examination centres with a total of 19,978 males and 17, 807 females.
Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, during a tour to some selected schools in the Regional capital Ho, called on the candidates to shelve their examination phobia and face the papers with confidence.
He advised them to have a mindset of success to make it to the next stage of their academic pursuit.
Dr Letsa reminded them of the Free Senior High School initiative and advised them to work hard to attain their choice of schools.
Madam Enyonam Afi Amafuga, Volta Regional Director, Ghana Education Service (GES), congratulated the candidates for making it that far and encouraged them to work hard to make it to the next level.
She advised them to eschew all forms of examination malpractices, which may result in the cancellation of their papers.
Madam Amafuga asked the candidates to draw the attention of their invigilators, when they encounter any difficulties instead of talking to their colleagues.
Nationally, 517, 332 candidates are writing the BECE in 1, 878 centres.
