Ajumako(C/R), June 10, GNA - Mr Kojo Laryea, District Budget Officer of Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam has appealed to the youth to show interest and participate in the various governments socio-economic initiatives to create employment for themselves.
He said the government’s rural economic interventions such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development as well as the One District One Factory (1D1F), were aimed at boosting agricultural production and agri-business in rural communities and to create employment opportunities.
He made the call at a day's dialogue with youth leaders and policy makers of the Assembly at Ajumako, on the theme "Arise Ghana Youth for Your Country" and urged the youth to participate in the Assembly's Town Hall meetings.
It was organized by National Youth Authority (NYA) and supported by Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNPFA).
The meeting was to create a platform for the policy makers in the district and stakeholders to interact with the youths and explain the various development projects and programmes to them.
It was also to offer opportunity for the youth in the communities to raise their concerns and discuss various development challenges affecting them for solutions.
The meeting brought together traditional leaders, various heads of Departments, District officers, students, organisations as well as members of the public.
Mr. Abdel Hafez Bagery Abdulai, the District Development Planning Officer of Ajumako District, praised the people for their massive participation in the Town Hall meeting and said that was an indication of their interest in the speedy development of the District.
He said the District had over 50,000 cocoa seedlings to support farmers engaging in planting for Export and Rural Development Programme and called on the youth to take advantage of the various initiatives to create employment.
Mr Mumuni Sulemana, the National Director of NYA in charge of Programmes and Operations, also appealed to the people in the communities to engage the local government officials to gain insights into the policies, programmes and projects, which were being implemented in their communities.
He said "no Nation can develop without the involvement of the youths in terms of policy formulation and implementation".
Nana KyeremehKumi Appiah II, Odikro of Ajumako Traditional Area, said "the youth’s participation in policy making is key to the development of our nation” and urged the youth to support the government’s jobs creation policies by availing themselves for the opportunities to reduce poverty in the Region.
