Accra, May 21, GNA - The Accra Regional Police Command has granted Dancehall Artistes Livingston Etse Satekla known in showbiz as “Stonebwoy” and Charles Nii Armah Mensah also known as “Shatta Walle” bail after the duo were arrested for acts of violence at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The duos were detained on Sunday by the Accra Regional Police Command after their clash on stage, which led to Stonebwoy pulling out a gun in the process.
According to a press statement signed by Effia Tenge, the Deputy Superintendent of Police and Head of Public Affairs, primary investigations revealed that, the disturbance occurred after Stonebwoy was declared winner of the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year and mounted the stage to receive his award.
It said Shatta Walle moved on to stage uninvited provoking the scuffle between them and their patrons.
“The two, together with one other suspect, Nii Amoo, who was seen discharging pepper spray in the auditorium were all arrested on May 19, 2019, placed in lawful custody and have been granted bail to be arraigned before court in due time,'' the statement said.
The statement added that, organizers of the event, Charterhouse Productions, are cooperating with the Police in investigations and assured the public and fans that, the case would be given the needed attention as it further condemned the violence that occurred last Saturday.
