Ellembelle (WR) April 27, GNA - The Ellembelle District Assembly has handed over a new staff bungalow with other ancillary facilities to the Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School (NASS) to motivate the teaching staff to give of their best.
The bungalow, which comprised a kitchen, bathrooms, WC Biodigester toilet and four bedrooms, became necessary following an accommodation problem facing the school.
Handing over the facility on behalf of the Assembly, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Kwasi Bonzo thanked the school’s management for support in ensuring the completion of the facility on scheduled.
He said the facility would contribute tremendously towards the development of the school and improve effective teaching and learning.
Mr Bonzo admitted that lack of staff accommodation was not helping teachers to execute their responsibilities to the satisfaction of the country but assured the gathering that the government was committed to addressing the problem facing the education sector.
The DCE charged the school’s management to maintain the edifice to last longer to achieve its intended purposes.
He promised to liaise with the school management to develop the school in recognition of Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
Mr Bonzo urged the teaching staff to work hard and support the students to learn hard.
In another development, the DCE cut the sod for the construction of a 12-unit classroom block for the school.
The project, with an estimated cost of One million two hundred and fifty thousand Ghana Cedis, would be funded by the GETFund and it is expected to be completed within six months.
The two- storey building when completed, would be equipped with dual desks in each class.
It is being executed by the Legacy Construction and Engineering Limited.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Michael Kwame Wurah expressed his appreciation to the DCE and the Assembly for the bungalow and pledged to ensure that the facility was put in good shape always.
"We want to assure you that we will take maintenance culture into consideration and let the edifice to last longer to achieve it intended purposes", he pledged.
Mr Wurah said the edifice would boost the performance of the school and help the teachers to get a better place to sleep and teach well.
He observed that due to the implementation of the Free SHS programme, the students population had increased to 1,500 and appealed for more furniture.
"Currently, we are facing furniture problem because the number of the students has increased to 1,500 and we are expecting the number to be increased in the coming academic year due to the Free SHS programme. We are appealing to the DCE to help us with additional 400 furniture ", he said.
On his part, the Chief of Nkroful, Nana Kwasi Kutuah IV, also thanked the District Assembly and the DCE for the honour given to the school.
He commended the DCE for the wonderful work he has started and urged him to do more for the school and other schools.
Nana Kutua appealed to the management of the school to maintain the facility to last longer to achieve its intended purposes.
