Agogo (Ash), April 25, GNA – The Mount Sinai Hospital in the United States of America (USA), has donated hospital equipment and consumables worth $50,000 to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital in the Asante-Akim North District.
The donation, which was facilitated by two Ghanaians based in the USA, Mr. Yiadom Boakye and Dr. Kwaku Owusu-Abrokwa, is to support the Agogo Hospital to provide quality health care services to its numerous clients.
Dr Owusu-Abrokwa who is native of Asante Akyem Morso and Kyekyebiase paid for the shipment of the equipment at a cost of GH¢10,000.00.
Prof. Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu, mother of Dr. Owusu-Abrokwa and Nana Abena Kyerewaa I, the Queen of Asankare, presented the equipment on behalf of the donors at a brief ceremony at Agogo.
According Prof. Ntiamoa-Baidu, the Mount Sinai Hospital is renowned for donating hospital equipment and consumables to health facilities in Africa over the years.
She said Dr. Owusu-Abrokwa and Mr. Yiadom, aware of how the equipment could improve quality health delivery in Ghana liaised with Mount Sinai to mobilise the equipment.
She said the decision to donate the equipment to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital was influenced by the critical health services being provided to its very populous clientele, most of whom were rural dwellers.
Mr. Alexander Kesse, the General Manager of the Hospital, receiving the donation, praised the donors for the gesture which, he said, would enhance service delivery at the facility.
He was excited about the consumables since most of their clients were poor and could not afford their medical bills, adding that, such clients would benefit from the consumables.
He said as a mission hospital they treated some of the pauper patients, on humanitarian grounds, hence such donations goes a long way to reach to more people.
The General Manager assured that the gifts would be put to good use for the benefit of patients and called for more of such support from other philanthropists.
