Accra, March 24, GNA - Management of Crime Check Foundation (CCF), a Prison Advocacy Organisation, has launched a new Health Check Series in Accra to support patients who do not have the means for treatment, especially for surgeries.
Mr Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the Executive Director of CCF, said the series were in response to growing calls by the public for financial assistance for prisoners in need of medical treatment.
He said the Foundation also provided legal assistance for prisoners, pay court fines for petty offenders, and had decided to extend its services to the hospitals.
"CCF will pay for the many, who have been ‘imprisoned' at hospitals because they cannot pay their bills," he added.
"It is unacceptable for innocent souls to lose their lives because they do not have the means to seek health care."
"If for some reasons you cannot pay to access healthcare, you find yourself in a state of mental detention."
Meanwhile, the CCF had donated detergents and assorted items to the 37 Military Hospital as part of efforts to support the facility.
Mr Kwarteng said it would continue to support the Hospital from time to time to make healthcare accessible to the poor.
Colonel Annie Dzokoto, the Matron of the Hospital, commended the management of the Foundation for the kind gesture and said the items would impact the lives of patients and make them comfortable, as they received treatment.
"We will urge you to come often to support those who cannot pay their bills," she said.
