Asamankese (E/R), March 24, GNA - Emmanuel Sackey, 22, an unemployed from Adeiso, has been sentenced to six months in prison by the Asamankese Magistrate’s Court for stealing.
Sackey was accused of stealing air conditioner pipes, estimated at 3,000 Ghana cedis.
The accused was jailed on his own plea.
The Court, presided over by Ms Cynthia Blagoggie, jailed the accused after he failed to pay a fine of 2,400 Ghana cedis.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Samuel Dodzi told the Court that on March 1, at about 1400 hours, a witness in the case was working on the complainant’s building project at Adeiso and overhead an unusual sound in the building.
The witness turned around and saw the accused carrying a sack full of some items.
Chief Inspector Dodzi said the accused was chased and arrested and when the sack was opened, some broken air conditioner pipes were found in it.
The Prosecutor said while the content of the sack was being examined, the accused escaped but was rearrested a week later by the Adeiso Police.
